John Cabot
John Cabot was born in Genoa, Italy in 1450. He was an Italian explorer and sailor. He went on two voyages. He convinced King Henry VII to let him find a faster way to Asia. King Henry VII agreed and funded him with whatever he needed for the voyage. John Cabot went westward across the Atlantic Ocean in hopes of finding a faster route to Asia than Christopher Columbus. He ended up going the wrong way and landed on an island off the coast of North America. He also ran into Newfoundland, Canada and claimed it as England's land. He also discovered a place where he saw habitation, but no people. this was very strange especially since there were living things on the island.
